Self-Criticisms Readings

Edited by Luo Xiaoming Commented by Yang Tiange
This book is a handout for the exhibition Self-Criticism (May 27 – September 17, 2017). The practice of “self-criticism” refers to a specific political manipulation in the Chinese context, which is related to the political experience in modern and contemporary Chinese history. However, “self-criticism” is more of a symptom for psychopathology in English t. “Self-criticism” in Chinese does not directly correspond with that in English An interesting tension thus arises from the gap between two meanings of “self-criticism”. This book is composed of a preface, “Starting with Oneself – Carol Yinghua Lu”, “What is the Basis of Effective Self-Criticism? – Luo Xiaoming”, and five other texts which all discusses the topic of “self-criticism”.
